HOOTLUM is a multidisciplinary creative laboratory and independent publishing house defined by industrial precision and narrative depth. Founded by patent-holding inventor Thomas Lopez, the studio operates at the forefront of high-fidelity intellectual property, serving as an incubator where “gritty heritage” meets the polished world of “Kidult” collectible culture.
This creative house represents a strategic fusion of physical and literary design—the intersection where an inventor’s eye for manufacturing meets the author’s voice. The studio is the visionary force behind the Archetype, a study in biological and geometric synthesis protected under U.S. Design Patent D1,074,862. By integrating the specialized cranial anatomy and predatory optics of the owl into a streamlined humanoid chassis, this modernist sentinel explores the transition between avian and anthropomorphic forms. The result is a sophisticated, hybrid collectible that distills the desert’s silent vigilance for the contemporary connoisseur.
The laboratory also functions as a premier publishing arm for structural narratives. Its debut title, Rusty the Ringtail, was born from a four-year meticulous restoration of a 1914 UVX Miner’s home on Cleopatra Hill in Jerome, Arizona. By merging veteran expertise with a personal mission to honor regional history, this entity creates immersive experiences that celebrate the raw heritage of the West through contemporary, award-nominated craftsmanship.

In the glowing red rocks of Sedona, a green heart-shaped cactus named Rex sets out on a lonely quest to find someone just like him. His journey leads him to Daisy, a vibrant purple heart whose petals hold the same magic as his own.
Billy Black didn’t come to Jerome to fit in. While the world below follows the paved roads of the status quo, he follows his heart to the dirt roads of the Gulch to run with the Black Sheep.
